May 2021 Athlete of the Month, Brynn Hoffman

Congratulations to the May Athlete of the Month, Brynn Hoffman! She is a leader on an off the field and an all around wonderful person. She will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Jacksonville University as a nursing major and will be playing Division I lacrosse- we couldn't be more proud!!!

This is her story...

My name is Brynn Hoffman and I am a senior at Middletown High School. Throughout my childhood, I fell in love with the sport of lacrosse and started playing when I was in elementary school. I eventually made my way up to a club team where my drive to play college lacrosse ultimately took off. I was able to see the older athletes in the club work hard and gain recognition from colleges, and I looked up to them. I was always told by my coaches and my parents that If you want to be great at something you have to work hard for it, and that is something I will forever hold onto. Now, as a senior, I can proudly say my hardwork has paid off and I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at Jacksonville University as a nursing major and will be playing Division I lacrosse. With this in mind, I knew there was still plenty more work to be done in order to prepare for college level lacrosse and my last high school season. I was then introduced to PFP by my best friend in the summer of 2020 and a month later I signed up and started working out in September. Right away, I noticed the positive and family-like atmosphere PFP showed. From the front desk staff, to the coaches and everything in between, I knew this was the place I wanted to be a part of. Even though I was new, everyone made an effort to get to know me and I felt very accepted for who I was. I can tell that all the coaches truly care about their athletes physical success, as well as their mental success too. This was an important aspect to me because I knew if I wanted to be the best version of myself I would have to work on both of these areas. Before PFP, I was lacking upper body strength and overall confidence in myself. I started to come into PFP 4 times a week and worked a lot with Travis and Ben on these things, especially my confidence. Travis gave me a book called “The Champion's Mind” and it was based on how the elite athlete trained, thought and overall thrived. I was able to take away many things from this book and found ways to limit the negative talk in my head. Overall, I can easily say that all of the staff at PFP has helped me gain the strength and confidence I need to compete at the next level. In the past 7 months at PFP, I have become a more confident, positive, stronger version of myself and a better leader for my teammates. I couldn't have done it without the continued guidance of the coaches at PFP and I look forward to the months ahead. I am so thankful for my PFP family!
